Meeting a popstar is something special, but meeting 8 years old popstars is an unforgetable experience. In Tian jin, I met the 20088 band. it was a band of four kids that have the same age, 8 years old. as I watch them play, I was amazed. Not by the skill they have, which is very good, but the place where they played. It was a nice big studio, fill with lots of expensive musical instruments. It was a big art school for children. After the interview I realize that their parent are VERY wealthy. This band was formed by the teacher of that art club that see their potensial talent.

The band was a hit.
only 1 years after formed, this band are performing in various national stage. They have three single that been played around kids radio's around china. and one of the single was chosen to be a one of theme song of Beijing olympics. They have great future ahead..

Well, they have good skills, but that was not the only good things they have. Their Parents was their most loyal supporters. Even when we came, their parents are becoming their Public Relations that pick us up at the train stations, Producers that set up the meeting with the media, Fund raisers that rent the special studios just to perform in front of the media (which is us) and still be the parents that carried the bag of these stars.

Their parents was backing them up 100%. With money, affection and great efforts. It was the golden tickets to be a future popstars band. but, you know what? On the interview I found out that they didnt even want to be a popstars. The Bassis want to be a sports stars, the guitarist wanna be solo guitarist, The keyboardist dream to became physics scientist, and the girl that play drums just want to be a Disc Jockey.

Amazing, they have what most kids only dream of, and they just wanna be something else.

This is a new phenomena in China. The booming of china economics and the rules that say every Chinese family only can have one kids, create this kinda kids. Childrens that have all the opportunities, chance to get more educations, training, fascilities and supports. Childrens that can developed their skills and potential talent to the maximum.

Winfried, my editor, say that this could create a new generation of chinese, that are very talented and powerfull. Yes I said, but I also thinking the opposite. What if the creation is a generation of spoiled kids, that think money will buy everything and they have the right to do anything if they have money. frightening ... at least for me.

But I will think for the best, and when I say good bye to the band, I wish all the best for them.
May this really nice kids can succeded in the future, in everything they do.

PS:
I admitted a little bit jealous when they say that their hobbies is riding their horses, swimming or playing golf with their parents. I'm jealous, since my parents haven't had that much time to spent with me.....
